If Governor Jan Brewer gets her way, Arizona radio stations will soon be prohibited from playing Latino music over the airwaves. On May 3, the Arizona House will vote on a bill that would ban any music that: 1. Promotes the overthrow of the United States government. 2. Promotes resentment toward a race or class of people. 3....

many people have likely seen this already but I just found it and fyi it is the GREATEST ARTICLE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD
it’s about how ability and desire to do things — the ‘I can’ and the ‘I want to’ — function differently in neuroatypical brains and no one ever believes me when I talk about this omg
I found that piece very, very helpful when I found it several years ago. Along...

Reality Check: Yes, President Obama Is a Hawk
It’s terrifying that isn’t clear to everyone, because it suggests the neoconservative desire for even more foreign wars is skewing the way that Americans conceive of hawkishness and dovishness. It suggests we’re defining “warmonger” down. Here are the facts:
Obama escalated the war in Afghanistan,...

Simply because the person they’re arguing with is a PoC. They automatically assume said PoC isn’t queer, because demonizing Communities of Color (especially Black/Brown Communities) is part of the White Queer Agenda (look at the anti-Black/anti-Brown slackness that went on when Prop 8 was passed, look at the whitewashing of Queer History) and it is apparently impossible for a...

and then growing up to be all “oh i hated girls til i was like 12 and i got a hard on”

and then go on to continue hating women. fucking them. and pretending to...

‘Cause a lot of the folks I know (or have known) who are on the Spectrum are a fairly flexible. Read this as: People I know go from “OHGODS YOU CAN DO WHAT?! WITH YOUR FOOT?” to “…You know? I don’t think it’s naturally supposed to bend that way…” in terms of flexibility.
…And I kinda want to know if it’s just some weird collective quirk of the people I...

A friend of mine recently described himself as “too disabled to work, not disabled enough to get disability benefits.” If you think that kind of life situation is best described as “functioning,” then you are a shit. Seriously. When I look at you, I don’t see a person. I see a turd. Of course I know you don’t see...

if you are deciding who’s “really” native based on CDIB or enrollment
you have some serious re-evaluating to do.
There are so many reasons that people lost status in the past, and there are tons of people who continue to lose status for bullshit reasons today

you should just know that you are doing...

Part of a much longer post from skeptifem: skeptifem goes to LDS church(emphasis added)
If you ask someone if they are racist, sexist, or homophobic, they aren’t going to say that they are. No one likes to think they are doing something shitty. If we use the intentions and feelings of privileged people to determine when bigotry occurs, you will find that no one is bigoted by that...

Found on G+. My comments there:
Good report, but The Bisexual Index site is an excellent resource in general, from what I have seen. Glad they also looked at some intersectional concerns, including race/ethnicity, gender, and disability. Very, very, very relevant, yes. I identify as multi (not bi) these days, but am also glad they are being less binary all around with their own working...
